01

Known for creating visual and auditory tempos, Ryan Winnen is a working artist exploring music, painting, writing, and movement.

02

Awakening the vestiges of abandoned industrial factories in Cleveland, Ohio, Winnen finds his roots in the overlooked subcultures of the American midwest.

03

Long before he could drive, Ryan’s yearning for kinship transported him to the community of metal and hardcore music. Energized by the raw intensity and vulnerability of these spaces, Ryan learned to befriend his aggression as fuel for expression.

04

Honoring the generations of laborers in his family who came before him, Winnen transmutes the necessity of labor to reconfigure utility, discipline, and craft.

05

To preserve the essence of humanity in the fifth industrial revolution, Ryan uses his whole body to create.

06

In constant negotiation between stillness and motion, darkness and light, Winnen accepts the divine invitation to the liminal space. He takes the nature of our brief existence in jest, producing furiously to make the most of his time here.

07

From descending hills to hiking off the trail, performing worldwide, and weathering his canvases, Ryan meditates on the fluid concept that “it is all one thing”.
